About the Game

Imagine the world's most popular sport, combined with the playground favourite marbles, and the classic game of crokinole.

That's Widget United! It's a family-friendly, single player game with four unique gameplay modes. The game combines the exciting gameplay of soccer, playground mechanics of marbles, and the goals of crokinole into four fun gameplay styles with three levels of difficulty each, and features all of the innovative and fun things you'd expect from a Unity-powered game. Widget United features online high scores and rankings where your best scores compete with players around the world, realistic physics, dynamic lighting, multiple camera views (including an in-air ball-following cam) cool sound effects and game soundtrack, and addictive gameplay for the family that'll keep you playing for hours.

The goal of Widget United is to score as many goals as you can within the limits of the four different gameplay modes. Types of games include a limited amount of balls, a limited number of kicks, limited time, and a difficult passing mode. Each gameplay mode offers three levels of difficulty with different teams to play against. Widget United also features a full and unlimited practice mode to hone your soccer skills.

Mechanics

The underlying mechanics place you at centre field in a full 3D stadium, where you "shoot" your kicks and try to avoid getting your shots intercepted when they hit the opposing players who move around the field, shooting a kick out of bounds, or having your shot blocked by the skilled goalies. Players aim and kick with the mouse and use a fast-moving power bar to set the strength of their kicks. Player can also "bend" the ball while it's in the air. How many goals can you score before the level is over?

Release Date and Pricing

System Requirements

The exact system requirements have not yet been finalized, however Widget United will be available for both OSX (Universal Binary) and Windows. Our goal is to provide the game for even low-medium powered computers that are as old as four-five years. The Windows version has been tested with XP and should also work in Vista. An Internet connection will be required for posting and displaying high scores.

Demo Information

The demo of Widget United will be limited to one gameplay mode, one level of difficulty, and will not allow players to submit their high score. You will be able to download the demo version for your system by clicking the buttons below (available the first week of February 2008).
